The Friends of Riggs-LaSalle Recreation Center

The Friends of Riggs-LaSalle Recreation Center (FORLR) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization. FORLR is dedicated to enhancing recreational opportunities within our community.

We do this through advocacy and community involvement. We advocate at all levels. FORLR is partnered with the DC Department of Parks and Recreation (DPR). We have met with DC Agencies to discuss maintaining a 21st century recreational facility. On behalf of the Riggs-LaSalle community, we participate in the DC Council Performance and Budget Hearings. We also meet with the Ward Four Councilmember and the Lamond-Riggs Citizens Association (LRCA).

Community involvement entails meeting the needs of an ever-changing mix of young families, teens, adults, and seniors. FORLR collaborates with all parties to foresee neighborhood needs, while assisting in maintaining successful, long running programs. In addition, FORLR supports popular children’s, teen, adult, and senior activities via funds raised through grants and solicitation.

Our goal is to ensure our recreational assets are exceptional, and to assist the community in enjoying these resources to the fullest.
